A study was recently published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association of Cancer Research, that examined chronic periodontitis as a risk factor for developing head and neck cancer.

American Academy of Periodontology Announces Award Recipients at 95th Annual Meeting

The American Academy of Periodontology awarded excellence in the field of periodontology among members at its 95th annual meeting Sept. 12-15, 2009, in Boston, Mass.

Awards were presented by Immediate Past President Dr. David Cochran and 2010 President Dr. Samuel Low.

“I am proud to honor my colleagues and praise them for their time and efforts throughout the years,” said Dr. Low. “This year’s award winners are indicative of the many continued successes we have had in the specialty of periodontics.”

Join Havel’s Incorporated at the annual meeting for the American Academy of Periodontology in Boston this September 12th through 15th, 2009 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.  Havel’s Inc. will be exhibiting at Booth 1234 in Exhibit Hall A.  Exhibit hours are:

Dr. Paul M. Ridher will speak at the Opening Ceremony at 5:15 PM on September 12th.  Dr. Ridher is the Eugene Braunwald Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.  He will discuss the relationship between periodontal disease and heart disease and the role of inflammation in periodontoloy and cardiology.
